Nike Women's Half Marathon - October 19, 2014

Nike Women's Half Marathon weekend was a tiring, crazy, and memorable experience for me.  Not only did I have the pleasure of accompanying a hand selected group of women to an exclusive #NikeTrackClub brunch, but I was also given the amazing opportunity to be involved in an internal Nike video of the 12 weeks of training including the final event:  Nike Women's Half Marathon 2014.

I started running to help me get through some difficult times.  Running taught me how to keep moving forward, even through the most painful moments in life.  When something that was once impossible, becomes possible you learn you really can endure and you really can do anything with some determination and hard work.

In my 12 weeks of training, I attended every official Nike Women's Half Marathon training event in Los Angeles.  Needless to say, I met amazing women along the way.  And I learned we were all running for a reason, whether it was to lose a few pounds, to make a few new friends, to overcome a loss, to alleviate stress.  We were all there to grow, to improve ourselves, and to evolve.  We were there to make it count.

In a world where women are known for criticizing one another, it is both thrilling and refreshing to be a part of a race that brings us together as women who motivate one another into bettering our bests.  Hope you enjoy my photo heavy post:

I arrived Thursday night, and Friday morning, I ran the iconic Golden Gate Bridge with my friend Jen:

Jacket:  Nike Element Half-Zip Women's Running Top, Shorts: Nike 2" Rival Women's Running Shorts, Socks: Nike Elite Compression OTC Running Socks, Shoes:  Nike Lunarglide 6

Afterwards we headed to the expo, to beat the crowds.  I highly recommend coming early for the expo.  There are lots of cool photo-ops, as well as free services you may want to take advantage (like getting your hair done by Paul Mitchell students, or run analysis), but they all have lines.  The earlier you get there the better!

Luna Bar had a cool make your own sign booth, which I took full advantage of!

And of course, you need to find your name on that wall!

Perhaps the best part of the expo is running into all your running friends!

Can't go home without a selfie with the "We Run" sign:

The next morning we finished our 12 week training with a 2 mile shake out run:

The turn out was pretty amazing.

And we also got a sneak peak at the medal we were running for:

After our 2 mile run.  #NikeTrackClub treated some of us to an exclusive "VIP Brunch":

Following brunch I got to spend the day filming with Nike and these gorgeous girls:
Myself, Pretty-Moon, and Cassidy

We explored the expo together:

Then we explored the city together:

The next day was race day:

Last year my friend, Nicole and I, ran this race together.  We beat our time last year by 32 mins.  Proof you are stronger every run:

And as you know, I always take advantage of photo-ops:

The second time the 4 of us have crossed the finish line together:

Always earned, never given.  Officially a 2X Nike Women's Half Marathoner:

Goodbye San Francisco, until next year:

P.S. Another nice touch to this race, all of the photos taken during the race were given free of charge:
